We bought these. I'm almost positive -- they don't mention the model or the time-frame. But I'll bet everyone a dollar it's the Optiplex GX270s. Every single one that we owned had to have the motherboard replaced. I believe we purchased them around 2004.

That makes the second time in my 11 year career that we've bought shit from Dell that was later litigated. The first time was for the Inspiron (somethings), circa 1999-2000. Their keyboards would die within months, usually starting with the K key and moving out from there. In 2002 or 2003, at a new company that also had these POSes, I got letters from Dell saying they'd just lost a class action lawsuit about these things and would thereafter replace them for free. All I had to do was send the laptop to Dell and wait two weeks. Great! I'll just do that. How about the hundred of dollars we already spent buying replacement keyboards for the by-now out of warranty laptops? Oh well whatever.

(Strangely, the Latitude (somethings) also had the same issue since they were literally the identical laptop to the Inspirons mentioned above. I assume they were part of the lawsuit too but I never saw them mentioned in the letters I got. Maybe cuz my new company didn't own that model.)
