Forum Overview :: Duke Nukem Forever

Game play Programmer by George Broussard 02/25/2005, 3:39pm PST
3D Realms
Location: Garland (Dallas suburb), Texas, United States
Date Posted: 02.24.05

The Company:

Since 1991, 3D Realms has developed million selling games like Duke Nukem 3D and helped produce million selling titles like Max Payne. We're stable because we've always been independent and we have the freedom to create the kinds of games that we want to play, while staying at arm's length from a publisher's control. If you're interested in being a part of a passionate independent team that loves games, and only wants to create the best, then we'd love to hear from you.

Job Type: Full Time
The Position:
Game play Programmer

We are looking for game play programmers with the following experience.

REQUIREMENTS

We assume you are a great programmer, capable of wearing many hats and solving any problem thrown at you. We assume you know C and C++ and have a few years experience and that you are a very very good programmer. The people you work with don't want to fix your stuff, or rewrite it, or worry about it being done correctly. They have a hard enough time staying sober.

We assume that you don't suffer from things like "not invented here" and that you are willing to work within the constraints of existing systems, even if you don't like them. Hungarian notation sucks. We hate it and we'll hate you for trying to bring it into the project.

We assume that you are easy to work with, take critique well, and don't mind re-doing things. You work with artists and animators, so you better be patient and used to sending things back to have origins and collision adjusted.

We assume you have passion for games and love them. We assume you want to do nothing more than work on game play that directly translates to the player having a good time and screaming "OMFG!!! HELL YEAH! BEST GAME EVER!!!"

We assume you are willing to work on anything game play related from AI, interface, weapons, sound tweaks,interactivity, vehicles and physics.

We assume you like FPS games and that they are your favorite genre, so you know which ones suck and what kinds of things not to do.

If you fit all of the above, then feel free to contact us.

WHAT TO SEND

* Please e-mail resume, web links or any materials to: georgeb@3drealms.com

* You must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen, and willing to relocate to Garland, Texas. Full time, on site. No contracting.

BENEFITS

* Competitive salary, based on skill and experience.

* Signing bonuses available (based on experience).

* All moving expenses paid.

* Medical / Dental benefits.

* You share in the profits of every dollar we make, on the games you ship, as long as you are employed here.

* Small close-knit shop (30 people), and we focus all our efforts on one killer title at a time.

* In business since 1991. Never had a loan. Never had layoff's. Multiple million selling titles leading to an extremely stable, and successful environment.
