This may be somewhat dated
Dragon Fire (****)
Pros: 2 part game, run and duck past fireballs and arrows to enter dungeon, run around like mad man avoiding dragon fire from below while scooping treasure and making for the exit
Cons: The last boss is an invisible dragon (this is secretly awesome)
Night Stalker (****)
Pros: Run through pac-man style level with single bullet that takes forever to charge, robots coming after you have different strengths and get smarter. Angst of watching a robot bullet slowing coming toward you while you wait for the split second of another robot to clear from branching path is awesome.
Cons: Robots end game pin you into corners pretty easily
Beauty and the Beast (****)
Pros: Climb a building past increasingly difficult obstacles to save princess on top
Cons: Random birds slamming into you from the side of the screen pretty annoying but it keeps you on your toes
Boxing (*)
Pros: When i was a kid he looks like an elephant man monster
Cons: *taptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptap*
Auto Racing (*)
Pros: Makes me stack of intellivision games that much more impressive
Cons: Handling not based on earth physics
Dungeons and Dragons (****)
Pros: navigate world map through forests into dungeons for loot and arrows. You can hear dragon "breathing" when you get a few screens near him. Box cover was probably the best ever
Cons: Simple two tone dungeons extremely simple looking
NFL Football - ML Baseball (*)
Pros: no pros
Cons: when starry eyed kids can tell your games are shit you have a problem
Astrosmash (****)
Pros: Defend ground with horizontal sliding blaster, meteors break into smaller meteors and fast falling attack UFOs
Cons: Bullshit auto-fire mode is an option
Frogger (****)
Pros: Its Frogger, probably the best one ported to any of the systems
Cons: I'm drawing a blank, the perfect game i guess
B-17 Bomber (**)
Pros: You buy the intellivoice adapter and plug in B-17 Bomber and it really talks to you!
Cons: Voicebox worked with 2 games i had, it doesn't improve either
White Water!(****)
Pros: A lot more awesome than you'd think, navigate waters to avoid rocks, lose a man overboard when you slam into them and try to pick him back up before he makes it offscreen. Park your boat to steal red indian treasure
Cons: Very fun for 10 minutes
Tron Maze-a-Tron (*)
Pros: Tron was a great movie
Cons: I don't remember anything other than the name of the game and the sting of disappointment 2 decades still hasn't healed
Atlantis (*)
Pros: Sort of Space Invaders and Missile Command. The lasers shooting everywhere are very colorful
Cons: I guess i'm the reason there's no more atlantis, also the controls
Bomb Squad (*)
Pros: Works with intellivoice add-on
Cons: The overlay the game uses is a mess of tools. Impossible to play without and still a guessing game with it
Demon Attack (****)
Pros: Space Invaders styled game, colorful enemies come at you in varied speeds and bullet types. The last boss is a giant keyboard bat hell monster
Cons: The cover is toy dinosaurs painted silver with wings attached. Very possible i'm confusing this for one of the "Space" games below
Frog Bog (**)
Pros: 2 players sit on opposing lily pads trying to eat more flies. Day turns into dusk in what i'm hoping is the first, worst use of time progression in a game
Cons: I put this in when i thought it was Frogger
Microsurgeon (*)
Pros: Lots of colors, go inside a guy and do surgery things, like Innerspace
Cons: I didn't understand this as a kid, and i'm missing the overlays to play it now. Fuck Innerspace, where's my 3 Amigos game?
He-Man Masters of the Universe (**)
Pros: Drop bombs on fleeing Skeletor
Cons: I have a sword and an axe and a cat i ride that talks, why not put some of that in your game assholes?
Snafu (****)
Pros: 2 players control growing snakes trying to enclose each one another, strategy and quick reflexes rewarded
Cons: Snakes are colored rectangles
Armor Battle (***)
Pros: Another cool cover, 2 players trying to get the first shot in terrain that blocks or hinders movement
Cons: Taking the red tank when the red tank is mine
Space Battle - Space Hawk - Space Spartans - Space Armada (?)
Pros: There were hundreds intellivision games, half of them had space in the title
Cons: Space Invader, Galaxia, pac man whatever game it wanted to rip off it was probably still fun
Star Strike (**)
Pros: You're flying down a death star like trench, sense of movement impressive
Cons: You die a lot, not very fun |
