Funny you mention that. In Fallout 1 and 2, you could do that in several areas.

There's a computer in the first metro station with commands for activating the lights, escalators, and robocops, but only the robocops work - the other two return error messages. I figured that meant I was going to have to use my repair skill on something down the line; I was envisioning rolling up my sleeves and going all MacGyver with some of this 200 pounds of junk I was carrying around. Nope! It was just "flavour text", to let me "taste the flavour" of what it's like to be someone who can turn on a light. They also sprinkled a few non-functional ladders around so you got the "flavour" of a world where people once climbed over minor obstacles, instead of taking endless detours through the goddamn metro system. |
