I admit that I don't know shit about Linux but I do encounter a ton of Linux users on the Renoise forum - at least in terms of forum membership, they outnumber Windows users - and Renoise only has two installers for Linux (x86 and x64). So that shit does not appear to be true. It sounds more like this dude doesn't have any experience in getting shit to work right on his own system and is blaming the world for it.
