That seems so obvious, when you say it like that, in retrospect, but when you're faced with 20 boxes of Captain Crunch all shrinkwrapped together, for $15, and you start thinking "Huh, maybe I should start eating cereal for breakfast," then you're this close to all those rules going out the window, and bam, not only is your $50 membership not going to pay for itself, it winds up just being the first fifty of your many thrown-away dollars.


I should start eating breakfast regularly! I should not be eating 15 pounds of Cap'n Crunch, however. They say you should never enter a grocery store hungry. I need to know how to get myself in the mood where I don't try to improve my condition, so I can go to CostCo and not be tempted. What can you do to make yourself feel that your empty existence is inevitable, and you'll never improve it through impulse fruits, vegetables and cereal? I'm thinking- make 13,000 edits to the Wikipedia before heading out? I'll hang up and listen to your reply off the air.

I've heard that there are payment restrictions. Can I use American Express at CostCo? I assume not! Is it strictly cash and carry?
