Specifically, the reason is that years ago a dude told me that it had a dynamic difficulty adjustment system in it and I get really excited about those. So I bought a cheap copy and let it sit around for years and now I'm finally playing it. It mostly sucks, so far. The difficulty adjustment thing just determines the number of incompetent enemies you meet at a time, or something, rather than the competence of the enemies. So if you do well you get twenty dudes piling out of the same door, one at a time, to be blasted in the face by your shotgun, instead of just three. And you don't even run out of ammo because of it--the extra dudes often leave more ammo, and more health too.
What games have exhibited really good dynamic difficulty adjustment systems? I am having trouble thinking of any. |
