only watched about 2 minutes and already I'm irritated, and they haven't even mentioned the game yet
we already gave the most accurate review for our coop game roundup so this review has even less reason to exist
I thought that guy's review was pretty good, once he got past the schtick.
By coincidence, I was playing this game recently. It was less fun than I remembered. Like Cables and everybody else I loved the minigames back in the day and unlike Cables I don't seem to have had trouble with jumping puzzles or whatever (see article). I just thought it was a good action game with a lot of awesome extra stuff in it and also awesome music. But I think minigames that are included for their own sake don't age very well. You can save up in towns easily enough by yo-yo-ing the endless passersby, so the minigames, even the ones that reward you with money, are mostly unconnected to the main game, unless you have your brother with you in which case perhaps they are part of one continuous experience of playing with/against him in lots of amusingly varied ways. I mean I loved the Gradius minigame too but today it just gets me wanting to play Gradius.
The action is still pretty good I guess--I didn't get far enough during my recent session for it to become challenging, but apparently it does at some point. The music is still awesome. |
