Thanks for the snack, stupid! - There's a new photo of Mimas out, and while Mimas is tiny, it's conceivable that we'll eventually find a system somewhere with an object that isn't a moon and clears its orbit, but also isn't round -- because it was either pulverized by asteroids (like Mimas) or because I went outside and punched the air. I actually dislike the "round" thing most of all! This is eventually going to cause a shitstorm in some other system around some other star. I won't be around for that debate, but I hope Caltrops will. Avenge me when it happens - bump this thread! This is where the nomenclature stupidity of including the word "planet" in a name and not meaning "planet" really comes into play. I did prefer "Plutoid" to "dwarf planet." Although dividing them into "Kuiper Belt Object," "Part of the Asteroid Belt" and "My Balls" also works. ::fingerguns the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey! |
