After the first week there was a HUGE drop in my enjoyment of Minecraft. by Last 06/15/2011, 8:34am PDT
It took a few days to figure out how to survive, and another few days to see all the different blocks in the game. That week is fun! But now what?

1.) I can work for months building the Titanic to scale. That time can be better spent on actual productive work or actual fun. Especially when you know that a hundred aspies have already made better versions and posted them to youtube.
2.) I can fight the same three mobs over and over again. This is kind of gay, though, because the mobs aren't clever and the only weapons are clumsy and scarce.
3.) I can explore the world. I've already seen everything it has to offer, though. The joy of exploring a colossal world is lessened when every horizon leads to the same stuff.
4.) I can build a Turing machine with glowstone switches. It takes months and who gives a fuck besides aspies. Again, doubly worthless when you know it's already on youtube and better.

What keeps people playing this after the first week or two? Multiplayer? I'm missing out. To me, it's like handing someone a dozen multicolored beads. You line them up in one order, then you rearrange them, then you make a pile, then you spread them out... it kills the time but it's not much fun.

Having said that, $10 for a week of enjoyment is a great bargain.
