"It's just a joke" isn't a valid defense when the intent of the joke is so demeaning. If you'd like to prove how right you are though, go up on stage and tell a few racist jokes on-stage in a neighborhood full of the people you're talking about, then see how well "It's just a joke!" works out.
How many iterations did this sentence go through before this craven shit felt comfortable wielding it as his ultimate rhetorical weapon?
"...go up on stage and tell a few racist jokes on-stage in a neighbourhood full of mud people..." "...a neighbourhood full of the people I'm thinking of, you know the ones I mean..." "...a neighbourhood full of the people YOU'RE talking about, whoever they may be, I wouldn't know, I wasn't EVEN there..."
