I saw last night's episode. by Mischief Maker 08/29/2011, 8:34am PDT I think they planned for only 4 seasons, but signed a contract for 5 and this season they're stuck in a holding pattern. Events that would have been covered in a single episode previous seasons get stretched across several this season. Hank noticed the Pollos wrapper in a vegan's apartment 2 episodes ago but they didn't have him put the pieces together until now? In the meantime they alternate between Jessie and Walter doing stupid irrational but visually interesting things to build false tension and basically jangle key's in the audience's face, then slam down the magic reset button because the writers don't actually want serious consequences for these actions. Jessie turns his house into a 24-hour rave/crack house for 4 or 5 episodes? RESET! A fresh coat of paint and we're back to normal. Walt's turn. Do some donuts in a parking lot then blow up your car? RESET! Cut to a scene of Saul explaining that he used his legal wizardry to ensure no real consequences for Walt. Hey, how about a sneak peek at the exciting new game Rage? Don't worry, it totally advances the plot. You see, in case you haven't noticed this entire season, Jessie feels guilty for killing Gayle, and this product placement demonstrates that. Remember how in the first season Walt blew up the asshole's sportscar to demonstrate his commitment to taking the bad path? Now in this season Walt blows up his own sportscar to demonstrate how he feels frustrated and impotent, in case you didn't notice this entire season. Gus has a tense meeting with the cartels to learn... nothing has changed! Wake me when it's time for season 5.
