We have not been seeing these characters from new and unexpected angles at all this season (excepting last episode). Hitting the same note over and over and over again does not develop the character. If I jumped in a time machine then said, "Boy, is it just me, or has Twin Peaks really been sucking ever since they solved Laura Palmer's murder?" I'd get just as angry a reaction.
