Picked 305 pounds off the ground for my best 1x5 deadlift set yet last week. My dominant hand almost gave out on the last one. Jesus. After that I decided to scale it back down to 295 for a bit. Still have no idea what my max is. Kind of afraid to find out. I need more grip strength. I tried to do 295 with a full overhand grip and both my hands just said "GO FUCK YOURSELF" and the weight didn't move off the ground, my hands just slipped off the bar and went up.
I finally figured out what was going on with my knees. Quadricep tendinitis. I must have fucked up and used the knees too much. I'm working on the "hip drive" thing but aside from just trying to PELVIC THRUST my way out of the bottom of a squat I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out the concept. Rippetoe isn't much help in video format on this one. So far it doesn't hurt to squat, but stooping down slightly can give me an ache. First my right knee was really the one bugging me, now the right knee barely complains while the left one seems to never stop aching. I'd love to take an NSAID and ignore it, but pain is the only indicator I have that my form needs work. I have bad visions of my quadricep tendon snapping and my kneecap hanging awkwardly off of my leg =(.
Power cleans are really fun to do once you get the technique down.
Meanwhile I'm still losing weight despite every effort not to.
