| It fixed my crashing problems, NOW the game is actually running well and I can load between areas. It fixed other issues I was still having previously, like waving flags flickering in and out. I still had to apply the launch options to smooth everything out, though.
The enemies actually display some decent behavior. They duck and dodge and juke and jump around in ways that actually legitimately make them harder targets. They duck behind cover, and if you injure them enough they'll drop to the floor and continue trying to take potshots at you. I was actually surprised one time to see an enemy come scooching across the floor around the corner to keep shooting at me. Is this the first game to implement scooching? That said, I'm not sure if it's even possible to die. At the very beginning they force you to die to demonstrate the self resuscitation feature, but past that I've been pegged with bullets, taken a full shotgun blast, and slammed with melee weapons and don't seem to actually take any damage. I have bandages, but they never let me use them. I'm not even sure if I have a health bar. It might be like Call of Duty where you have to wait to recover, but if so it seems to happen so fast you might as well be invincible. I just now finished all quests with John Goodman at the beginning of the game, so maybe it's intentional to not make the game too hard? You get a dune buggy pretty early, and driving around is pretty fun what with being able to slam the brake and do Mario Kart powerslides. Funniest bug I've encountered so far: I hopped on an ATV and drove forward about a foot where I hit a tiny incline. Suddenly I launched over the handlebars and went ragdolling 20 feet into the side of a cliff. I thought I died but I turned out to be perfectly fine. Then I turned around and saw my ATV fly up in the air and twirl around until it exploded. Worst line spoken in the game so far: "There's sewers all over the wasteland." :( |
