Everyone was extremely excited about some terrible game I had built from a bunch of clipart and sound effects I had got from Jhoh Cable over IM and strung together using Visual Basic 6.0. The other game at the conference that was getting a lot of "buzz" was from another Caltrops poster that turned out to be the writer of Hark A Vagrant. It was a boring generic racing game that involved stiffly animated people riding around on rocket boosters. The Hark-A-Vagrant-Girl didn't actually make it - she was the "designer", and had gotten a volunteer team of developers to build it for her. Since I was another submitter of a game I was asked to fill out a comment card on her game. I didn't know what to write because I thought the game was shit, BUT she was coming onto me hard (since the game I was showing was so awesome), and she was actually pretty hot.
ICJ was there as an aloof loner that everyone was afraid to approach. He was wearing a some fancy designer leather jacket with "Necrotic Drift" embroidered on the back. I didn't recognize who he was until the conference was over and a bunch of us were driving to a Ski Chateau to keep partying and we passed ICJ walking to his remote scenic house and I saw the back of his jacket. I then pointed out to all the "rubes" in the car with me (since I was in "the know") "hey, that's Ice Cream Jonsey" and they were all impressed. |
