There's been this spate of advertisements that I have a huge meta interest over.
Like this ad where a black father is at a restaurant with his sons and there's a bear claw machine and a couple white kids are feeding dollar after dollar into the machine trying to get a stuffed animal, then finally $20 later they reach between the stuffed animals and grab some shitty plastic thing and they're doing jumping high fives and the black father shakes his head, then notices his own sons watching enrapt and then the bank says, "need to teach your kids about the value of money?" with a web link.
These are expensive prime time TV advertisements! What's the angle? Are they trying to get brand recognition into these kids' heads so they'll get credit cards and student loans with the bank later in life? Did this bank just get in trouble for doing some shady shit and they're doing a happy face PR campaign to put themselves back in our good graces?
Or is this some attempt to undermine the occupy wall street message with the subtle implication that the banks know better what to do with the country's money than you do, you shitty parents? |
