| I watched half of last week's episode and realized I just don't care. I can't be bothered to figure out where I left off. And it gives me this great excuse to just stop watching this stupid ass show forever, seriously. It started out so great, with this tight writing and actual cinematography, like in a TV show and stuff. So now it's just devolved into a procedural cop drama. The writing is so lazy, deus ex moments all over the place, and they managed the visual joke with Dexter and his imaginary brother as American Gothic, but unlike other visual moments like that in other seasons, this seemed so contrived. They have a new "show runner," I guess why they introduced a new character, "a guy who writes video games." Ya, you have a few Indy guys like that, but you have one guy making a game like you have one guy making Dexter. It's so ridiculous now, and the writing is so bad, I just think there may be CIA shills on the writing staff. First, it's been so absymal, second, slipping in "If you see something, say something!" the latest TSA marketing slogan. Anyway, they renwed it for two seasons and gave Hall 20 million. personally, I think they should end the fucker.
On the bright side, the second season of Boardwalk Empire has been amazing. I already liked the first season, just to see CGI of oldtime 20s stuff. I could barely remember the plot of the first season, if not for the second season. It's like the second act of a play. All the stuff in the first act I was almost forgetting, suddenly become important, and all kinds of rising action starts happening, shit on the fan. What a beautifully produced show, excellent CGI and cinematography, great writing. The actors are great, too. Huge cast, all good, even great. I'm just too busy and could be playing games so I'm a snob with TV. Dexter has dipped into the zone from which I do not partake, which is probably %98 of it, I admit. It still sucks. I was thinking, when was the moment when Dexter "jumper the Shark?" For me, it was the Lithgow season, when Deb had the bright idea to catch the killer, they should just DNA test everybody in the Miami area. Set up a roadblock, and just do it. How perfectly ridiculous, I thought. Forget how it would cause a constitutional uproar, it would also bankrupt the police department. It was downhill from there, really. In what was probably the best season, maybe? They should have ended it now. I predict absolute suckage to come. Maybe it was the big reveal this season, which I saw coming from the premier. Yawn. |
