So this is out in two days.by Jerry Whorebach 02/26/2012, 11:45am PST
Binary Domain is the new Terminator-inspired Gears of War clone from Toshihiro Nagoshi, legendary creator of Daytona USA and Super Monkey Ball. (Remember when Cliff Bleszinski was making Sonic the Hedgehog clones? We're obviously living in the WRONG FUTURE. Someone needs to send a killing machine back in time to fix this mess.) It looks to address my number one complaint with Vanquish: that robots just aren't as much fun to murder as flesh-and-blood humans.
This is one of those games that I'm not EVEN going to bother looking at the Metacritic for, because there's not a single professional reviewer I feel like I could trust to evalute it. If Binary Domain were forty dollars I'd pick it up day one, like God Hand and Earth Defense Force 2017. But since it's releasing at sixty, I'm just going to wait three months for it to get completely steamrolled by Mass Effect 3, dredge it out of the bargain bin for twenty, and either love everything about it or feel horribly disappointed with no one to blame but myself. Hopefully the former.
I mean, just listen to this guy talk. "I would say driving games should be exciting and refreshing. I'd like the players to feel like they're really racecar drivers. Sometimes, players might feel like kicking the cabinet, but basically I want players to feel better after playing the game." He sounds like a genius and looks like a fool. That's a pretty good combination!
