Turn-based orders gives you total control over the situation. Real-Time bottlenecks your control through interface peccadilloes and the quality of your troops' AI.
Hence the ability to pause.
"Control" and not relying on AI in games like Combat Mission, Laser Squad, and Frozen Synapse led to spending 10% of your time on tactics and the rest on meticulously laying out commands to not have your units kill themselves being retarded. It always felt like you were playing an RTS with 10 seconds of lag. |

Waiting for action points to gradually recharge has the potential to add by far more tedium than it relieves. 03/06/2012, 9:40pm PST
Yeah, it looks great. Looking forward to it. NT by Ice Cream Jonsey 03/06/2012, 10:52pm PST
More than sitting through entire enemy turns? by fabio 03/07/2012, 5:03am PST
Why not make all AI turns last less than one second? That's essentially NT by what real time does. 03/07/2012, 9:34am PST

What is the point of having APs in a real time game? by Arbit 03/07/2012, 10:09am PST
That actually looks good. Cautiously optimistic that a forum rename will be in o NT by Entropy Stew 03/07/2012, 2:17pm PST
