the rest of your division sucks. your defense can't go anywhere but down from last season. this is the time you improve at each position on offense that you can afford and make your run. I wouldn't give you vegas' current 10-1 odds to win the superbowl, but barring injury you're at least in the hunt to make it past the first round.

The real story of the offseason was the loss of our latest and best defensive coordinator to the motherfucking Raiders, and how it probably doens't matter who we have at QB. Witness the Packers this past year. Eventually, defense will be important and we won't have it. Then your "nightmare scenario" of winning some games and dropping in draft position will still be in effect.
