I am reading Canticle for Leibowitz right now, and I can't see your liking it. It's...ok. The Richard Morgan trilogy - Altered Carbon, Broken Angels and Woken furies is pretty good, and more your style. Best character ever in the form of a non-character - a long-dead philosopher whose themes permeate the books is awesome.
