It's since became an asian thing, because after WW2 the whole of asia was importing Japanese stuff left and right; nevermind they tried to rape the entire continent minus Taiwan.

I think that's something you see in asia you don't see often in other bundles of countries. All the main asian cultures really love to import and absorb stuff from all the other asian cultures. Every major soap opera is subbed into two other languages (chinese/kor/jap) and all snack food companies have very publicly visible subsidiaries in all other asian countries.
