| They fixed the difficulty walls for the most part, the leveling of skills is a refined version of the same explore and unlock we've all done a million times. For the most part, the checkpoints are a lot better. P1 worked fine for me on PC depending on what you mean, although I did find many of the boss fights poorly designed and needlessly frustrating.
In this case, the first boss fight will probably encourage you to think it's the same old bullshit. In fact, if you slow down and pay attention to the big, obvious cues then it's clear you have a fairly simple series of context button - attack kind of situations. I don't really like boss fights in action games for the most part, so whenever I can count them as something other than a show-stopper I'm pretty satisfied. So it's aggressively mediocre, poorly written, the brain-sucking cutscenes are still stylish if shallow, and the violence and rampaging is pretty much better in every way. I'm sure the whole city will go apeshit later and there will be plenty of time to do the full-on rampage, as for now it's pretty tame (35%, but OCD unlocking everything along the way). I endorse focusing on the movement upgrades if you can deal with a shorter life bar just because the game is a lot more fun when you are flipping from building to building in between air dashes and glides. Also, if you want to do the collectibles their general vicinity is marked in the surprisingly named Collectibles menu item, and you just watch for the radar blips. I'd say it's a clear rent and play until something better comes along. At the same time, I'd just as soon go back to the mindless joy of ME3 multiplayer or Dark Souls to warm up for the PC version. |
