Do you like over-the-top action games?by Mischief Maker 05/29/2012, 9:14am PDT
It still boggles the mind that japanese indie developer easygamestation took their shit sub-zelda combat engine from their shitty game "duo princess" then added a shitty shopkeeper/interior decorator game on top of it, called it "Recettear," and struck shit gold with the somethingawful crowd. Hooray, forget Crimzon Clover or Diadra Empty, let's bridge the pacific divide between American consumers and Japanese indie developers with a glorified facebook game.
I guess this fist-shaking paroxysm is aimed at the heavens for allowing shit games like Recettear to achive success and glory while actually amazing action games like "Es" die in development:
Fuck Shank!
Anyway, 9th Night, the developer of this game, has closed shop and their website is down, but thankfully a lot of japanese indie developers tend to spread their demo downloads over multiple mirrors and archive.org helped me locate a still-working DL link. Grab it while you can:
Arrows move horizontally.
Z is sword, hold back when hitting Z for a lifting uppercut.
X is machine gun (tap) or homing lasers, (hold).
Z and X together fire Death Blossom when the power meter on the left is full.
C is vertical jump.
V is horizontal dash.
A fires special weapon 1
S changes target.
D targets closest.
Q fires special weapon 2
I don't think the config editor or the config text file actually work in this beta.
This is like a tighter-controlling version of Zone of the Enders 2. It's only 2 stages. Play for speed and score (you build up a combo meter by rapidly attacking) and it's still an absolute blast.
