I didn't say it was bad... by Mischief Trollbait 07/30/2012, 6:26am PDT ...just not up to DMC3's standards. What I love about DMC3 (and Spiderman WOS) is the freeform combo system. You pick the moves, you can switch up the combinations at will, and the only requirement is that you mix things up instead of cheesing your favored attack. Bayonetta's gameplay footage gave away that this was a lower-tier brawler when I saw what I call the "Battletoads Boot." In the original battletoads, your starting punches didn't do all that much damage and for the most part were a formality you had to go through before you finished with a silly Looney Tunes oversized attack; like when you would kick an enemy 3 times, then the 4th attack you sprouted a gigantic combat boot as the finisher. God of War had that too, in the form of that move where Kratos slams his blades down on the ground and lava spews up. All the special moves in that game were just shorter paths to that finisher. Bayonetta clearly had many many boots to choose from, but again, weak little slaps and slashes before her hair formed a gigantic stilleto heel as a finisher.
