However, had I been the one in charge of remastering Doom II, I would've removed the incredibly lazy original save system and replaced it with a simple level select. And I would've made the level select look like a map of wherever the fuck Doom II was supposed to take place (Earth, I guess?), complete with a space port and a ruined city and all the other evocative locations Sandy Petersen felt justified in ascribing to his generic techno-dungeons. Just think how much cooler those map screens in the first Doom would've been if they were actually functional, like the ones in Super Mario World!
