It is inconceivable to me that a Civ fan would dislike the fifth game in the series. I guess that's my point. It's the same goddamn shit, although a little easier to work with (see: obsolete post in this thread about units automatically becoming boats when you want them to move cross-country), and without stacking. (And without that cool thing in Civ4 where you could zoom out to see the whole planet. :( ) "BUT THEY REMOVED MY BLESSED RELIGION AND (whatever other feature you thought was the key to enjoying the game)." Look. LOOK. Ready? Here's a secret. CIV IS JUST EMPIRE. Civ is just Empire with a bunch of bells and whistles. That's all it's ever been. Which is the greatest thing ever, but if you strip the shit down, it's fucking EMPIRE. It's an ADDICTION MACHINE, and don't you dare pretend you don't love it, if that's your thing. And in fact, without unit stacking, it's actually closer to Empire than ever. And they put religion back in if you buy the expansion, happy now? |
