finally a game that has both unit commands like an RTS but with the ability to personally pilot a vehicle like in the battlefield series. you can instantly switch to one of the deployed vehicles, including a vtol and an LAV (in the demo, with the possibility for a larger selection), customize their weapon loadouts, research upgrades, and then take them into combat where you capture enemy supplies to further research, capture an enemy stronghold, sail out into a massive sandbox archipelago to take on the missions you want (I assume anyway I duno) and engage in some beautiful scenic battlefields packed full of explosions and enemy fortifications which can be destroyed and collapse in real time and shit like that etc.
negatives: like most classic PC sim games, there are enough key bindings to cause dementia. you don't need to learn a lot of keys, but it might be more than most people are used to, which is a little unintuitive. the game's full price is something like $50 for some unimaginable reason. maybe because it's from the makers of "arma" which I assumed was america's army but apparently it's that other game that's just called arma. it's on sale now for half off but $25 is still a big investment for something that might start to get tiresome or disappointing right after the demo ends. so how about you buy it instead and review it. |
