I spent the entire (appropriately lean) ninety-minute running time being impressed by how good it looked for what was obviously a fairly inexpensive film. The acting was decent - I don't know what happened to Guy Pearce's career, but he's gotta be a bargain at this point, and you could tell by his tri's he was taking the action hero role seriously - and the banter translated surprisingly well from whatever grabastic collection of dead and dying Romance languages the screenwriters do their thinking in. Ultimately, though, I couldn't shake the feeling that this really should've been a video game instead of a film. Does Infogrames have a third-person shooter? They could've!
Also, was it just my imagination, or was Peter Stormare slipping in and out of some kind of accent? Congressional, maybe? |
