She recoils in disgust when a pixel woman gets punched in the same video that she calls for Zelda to get her own sword fighting game. Unless it was just the panties that bothered her then it's just exhibit Y in the case of how it's going to be impossible to make Anita happy. She's an academic bloodhound on the hunt for things that could theoretically be considered offensive but every normal person finds harmless (love songs, underwear). Dogma over pragmatism. I will donate $100 to her for every girl you can find who is seriously offended by princess kidnapping or armored bikinis or men holding the doors open for the weaker sex if she will give me $1 for every one who thinks this is a ridiculous "non-profit" stunt crusade by another warped Women's Studies major. All my profits will go towards mandatory Valentine's day gifts and dinners. She omits and misrepresents information when it doesn't serve her argument. Here's one thing I've noticed: Every girl I've known who plays games with storieshates women characters. To go Mischief Maker for a second... Not that they hate the portrayal of women characters, or that the characters are written to be hated. They just reflexively start referring to every female character as "the bitch" and are always on the lookout to ditch them or have them killed off. Mass Effect, The Walking Dead, Starcraft, if there's a story then they hate the women. I'm sure we've all seen apartment ads and known women who refuse to room with other women, or ones who prefer guy friends to girlfriends. I still remember Zseni's brand of feminism (and most of Women's Studies departments') where it was never about respecting other women but calling them stupid for not wanting the "right" things in life. I would chip in if Anita were to honestly address this and what it means. I doubt it's behavior learned from childhood disgust at Peach's weak-willed kidnapping. You can argue that only socially maladjusted people think like that, but it aint the popular and contented kids playing involving games. In light of all that, who are developers supposed to make games for? Girls don't care about girl characters and guys will always have a primal reaction to women in peril. Is the ideal future the Bioware approach where everyone becomes a zero dimensional omnisexual cutout? A better video series would address crappy writing as the problem but that wouldn't mesh with Anita's objectivist approach because it would require more thought than going over a checklist.
