Uh, you never heard of mules? Common practice in drug gangs is the leader never touches the drugs or the money, and when someone buys drugs they give money to one guy and another guy gets them the drugs. Further, there's nothing that says the guy couldn't simply have hired someone. I can go to a labor place in a car or truck - in my area (Prince George's County, Maryland and 10 miles away in Alexandria, Virginia) you can always find people at your local Home Depot or Lowes loitering in the parking lot looking for work, they're available for various casual labor. You can hire as many as you need, just negotiate the price. From language and appearance most of them are probably illegals from south of the border, and I don't mean the fireworks stores and tourist trap in Dillon, S.C. either!

And who's going to question me, if I go up to a guy in my wheelchair, give him $20 and tell him I need an assistant to carry a package? All he's going to remember, if he's even found (and if he even says anything to the police), is some fat white guy in a wheelchair wanted help. Can't tell them how tall I am; I'm sitting down. If it's cool or cold I can be wearing a coat, possibly a hat or ski mask or a muffler. And he would have no idea whether I'm really wheelchair bound or just rented (borrowed or stole) the chair, and maybe I'm wearing a fat suit or just a lot of padding.

I also don't feel like the guy who pulled off this crime is carrying the backpack around his wrist because it is so heavy, like the other dude.
An excellent way for the guy to justify hiring someone to carry it for him, especially if he uses a wheelchair scam as an excuse for getting someone to carry it for him. Or maybe not even hire someone, a lot of people just out of common courtesy will help someone in a wheelchair. Most people see it as "there but for the grace of God go I," and most people will help some guy in a chair if he has a problem.

The guy who did this had his shit together.
Blowing up stuff isn't all that hard. It's blowing up stuff and not injuring people that's hard. Witness the number of times some company that isn't experienced like the people at Maryland-based Controlled Demolition, Inc., who do building implosions, and the inexperienced company hired makes a mistake that either it doesn't go off correctly (leaving the building only partially collapsed) or goes the wrong way and either injures people not expecting it or damages nearby property. I think even CDI has made a mistake every now and then and left a building that the explosion either didn't or only partially worked, or it again it might have been one of their less experienced competitors.

You can't draw any conclusions from a sample of five people. However, I think it's pretty obvious based on my findings that it was a white guy between the age of 30 and 37.
Seems reasonable; younger than that, they feel optimistic and think they can change the world; older than that and they're cynically realistic and realize that the vast majority of people don't want the world changed, as bad as things are, they fear change to the world.

Morpheus: The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
- The Matrix

At that age you mentioned, if they're still idealistic they may think violence is the answer. It isn't but some people don't use common sense. Especially if they're young, not old and wizened like myself. Or, at least, I hope I've become wizened.
