Because they are such nice guys, Microsoft is going to convert any Microsoft Points remaining in your account to cash credit. However, that cash credit will expire exactly one year after the conversion. Anything you haven't spent up to that point - either because you were saving it like some kind of sick money-hoarder from that TV show about people who keep the same money for years and years and just let it pile up all around them until their cats are getting crushed under huge piles of money, or because you only have like $4.97 left and there's nothing you want on there at the moment that's less than $5 - will simply disappear in a flurry of tiny cha-chings heard all around the Microsoft server farm. At least it's pretty obvious and understandable why they're doing this, as backwards compatibility with your already-purchased funny money would be unduly taxing on their engineers due to differences in system architecture and a move towards cloud-based computing that will ultimately benefit everyone. Like in Forza 5 the cloud is going to make it so every AI driver has his own distinct personality and emotions and if you run one of them off the road in a fiery wreck his simulated widow will call you on your cell phone and sob uncontrollably WOW ITS LIKE WE'RE LIVING IN THE MATRIX THANKS MICROSOFT.
