Re: Is Microsoft still watching Star Trek? Do they think XBONE+KINECT=Holodeck? by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 06/18/2013, 6:23pm PDT
I said something similar in part, which Jonsey placed on Caltrops front page in July, 2011, featuring the YouTube video I made on December 30, 2007, that when my Internet connection went down, I'm unable to play Half Life 2 or Portal because my computer can't phone home to Valve's servers. (I have been told Valve has fixed some of this since then), but the fact remains that you cannot use The Orange Box at all without an Internet connection even if all you're going to play is Portal or the Half Life 2 games, none of these require an Internet connection to play (since you play them single player). But without an Internet connection and a Steam Account - and a login to Valve's servers to validate you - the games are locked and will not start up even though they're loaded on your computer and would work even if you'd never even heard of the Internet.

Thanks for the link to the front page, Jonsey's words were hilarious and an excellent commentary.
