[ThorBlackHammer] The map editor lets you build custom space and ground maps and assign them to a gametype, as well as set the variables for that gametype (how many turns, what ships and units each side starts with, et cetera)

[ThorBlackHammer] 1) The idea for Supremacy came mostly from Nik Mikros, Black Hammer's lead designer. He has four fingers (and a thumb) on one of his hands and thus has always been captivated by the number four

[ThorBlackHammer] so the BHG staff met and pitched various concepts to hang a strategy game on (mine was about vampires) and ultimately developed the space/land scenario that would be the base of Supremacy. Then we revised and polished it a million times

[ThorBlackHammer] Nik had some ideas that were a little out there, like no traditional narrative or story segments and making it possible for every race to be either the player or the player's enemy, and it was a challenge to make those work, but we did it.

[ThorBlackHammer] Excellent question, and a tough one. The OGRE engine, while extremely strong and capable, is still not at the top of the line when it comes to advanced graphical detailing. Also, with an art team as small as ours, the amount of time we had to devote to

[ThorBlackHammer] texturing and unit detailing wasn't nearly as much as we would have liked. So we focused on making the best-modeled, best-textured units we could and making them animate and react well, as opposed to using fancy effects
