Papers, Please (I will never trust game reviewers ever again)by Mischief Maker 09/06/2013, 4:12pm PDT
I know I'm being a gigantic philistine here but... why?
Every goddamn game journalist is licking this game's asshole, even Yahtzee. Why???
Well obviously because it's an art game that teaches you about the human condition and blah blah
BUT IT'S A GODDAMN VIDEOGAME!
What I'm getting at is the gameplay is complete and utter shit. I guess I was thinking in the "Tapper" mindset: a puzzle game with a shit job theme.
Winners don't do drugs!
No, this is literally a game about checking the fine print on passports and getting micromanaged the whole time. Why would anyone do this for fun? The only people I can think of who would enjoy this are people whose enjoyment of videogames has become so numbed that they can no longer tell the difference between fun and shit, but a shit game like this that has interesting themes going on in the background lurches them out of their stupor and causes them to actually feel an emotion for once in their miserable lives. This game has convinced me that you cannot trust a reviewer's opinion, even if they're not bought off their viewpoint is so skewed it's like asking for investment advice from a schizophrenic.
