Most of that's personal and I don't really give a fuck if MM was slapped down by the school administrators because of criticizing the administration before becoming a mediator insofar as finding good game reviews, I might sympathize or empathize but that's private life and I'm not exactly seeing invitations from everyone because this isn't your fucking tumblr, I just want to know he's the guy to go to on things like Hammerfight or that Fabio and the Fabio test are something to do with a means toward finding an efficient pathway and the experience it produces. But ultimately even from reading articles on the frontpage and asking questions there's zero insight into who knows what and how well. For all I know, Jonesy's lust for moon surveys in Endless Space is indicative of some kind of hidden gourmand's understanding of all games to do with space opera, but I can't tell who knows what so 'search by author' is not a valuable site function insofar as I'm concerned and it's not like Google indexes this shit.
You are absolutely right, of course.
The forum contains the funniest threads that exist on the Internet, in my opinion. However, none of them are remotely easy to get to if you just wander in here. They are all hidden, except for the funny threads that are active in the last month.
(I might need to change the sql a little. For the top-most forums, going back the last 90 days or whatever is fine, but for the bottom forums, I'd like it to bring back all threads by default.)
Your point about establishing some sort of page as to who everyone is is well-taken, although I can see arguments that trying to elevate a certain kind of poster over others creates classism. I don't want that. But I do want lurkers, readers and newbies to get up to speed on what is going on here if they so choose. The other argument is that we've been doing things one way for 10 years and we get 400 visits a day -- why not make it a little friendlier to outsiders and see if we can't get a little more traffic?
I appreciate you wanting to make this place better. I really do. I am gay for every single poster here, so I would be a good candidate to write about the various posters, because I genuinely like all of them. You. Group you.
Let me tentatively agree to putting up a page. I will need some help on the best way to get it in front of new readers. But I am thinking something like this:

(Except maybe more about funny threads they were in, as opposed to their History Channel Biography. Well, it's good I did a first draft.)
