The pacing is completely bipolar. I've actually skipped most of an entire episode because it was part of a 7 episode arc that had been building and building already and I wasn't in the mood for another hour of nothing but the main character talking to himself. Sometimes it's slow and almost NOTHING HAPPENS or it takes 7 episodes to cover something that happens in a matter of hours. Then other times it speeds up.
I've been so inured to Hollywood pacing (SOMETHING MUST HAPPEN EVERY FIVE SECONDS OH GOD WE'RE LOSING THE AUDIENCE) that I enjoy a show that will let the slow parts happen slowly. I'm also willing to forgive time dilation around an action sequence. A non-padded sequence, of course - no DBZ grunting.
