After 3 hours of the fun gameplay almost totally ruined by the goddamn story and level design fucking you over (new record: dead from full health in 1/5th of a second after cutscene ended, watch a 10 second unskippable cutscene every retry. Imagine if Super Meatboy or Hotline Miami made you watch a 10 second cutscene every death!), you play a flashback mission where Max is back in New Jersey.
No more green filter! Blur effects at a minimum! You get to gun down the cast of Jersey Shore! The level design doesn't fuck you over! You come out of cutscenes in a safe spot and get to approach the bad guys in your own way, diving between spots watching guido heads EXPLODE into tomato chunks. Why couldn't the whole game be this?!!
Then you're back in South America and the green filter is more obnoxious than ever before. Cutscenes dump you into instant killzones, and levels are full of annoying nooks where enemies can shoot you but all your bullets bounce off bars or corners (even if the retacle says you have a clear shot, half the time you're not clearing the corner because ARMS).
A google search for "Max Payne 3 blur effect" is entirely people asking how to disable the Tony Scott blur effect and filters (you can't).
Who the fuck took a look at the New Jersey level then thought the rest of the game was a good idea? |
