Re: I'm gonna have to be the one to review Guacamelee, aren't I? by Lurker 340924 01/07/2014, 6:18pm PST
I usually do like a good indie beat em up, and I think I played ZSX2 based on a recommendation from here. I remember enjoying The Dishwasher, but I haven't had my XBOX in years, so I haven't been able to go back and confirm that. I actually got it after a recommendation from the Aztez blog since I agreed with all of his Castlevania points and felt he knew his stuff pretty well.

It's a 6-7 hour VERY casual Metroidvania with VERY casual beat em up elements. I found it charming and didn't mind the LOL-GAME-REFERENCE luchador posters, but I can see how sucking off Meatboy is getting to be as bad as making a cake or arrow to the knee joke. I also REALLY enjoyed the music, but not enough to buy the soundtrack.

Similar to how playing RE6 improved my view of RE: Revelations, it's possible that playing Castlevania: Patrick Stewart made me appreciate Guacamelee a little more. Like I said to Jerry though, I'm patient and forgiving to the point where it usually comes back to bite me in the ass.
