| Faction warfare is like the AAA league of EVE Online PVP and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get into the game. The "main" groups are NPC so you don't have to pass a shibboleth to get in, and FW-aligned corps are always hungry for new people with no skills and do not give a fuck if you suck. You're immediately given friendly standings with a large number of pilots who like to cruise around low-sec which for a new pilot is nice. The fights never get bigger than a cruiser-sized match and that's a rare event. Cap-points are tiered into 3 sizes: Frigate, Frigate/Assault Frigate/Destroyer, Frigate/Assault Frigate/Destroyer/Cruiser.
Teamspeak is optional if you just want to go solo. And a cap-point farmer with warp-core stabilizers and a cloak is about the biggest way to troll people in the game. People tend to be suspicious of new characters who are in NPC Faction Warfare groups so you want to get into a real player group as soon as possible. Thankfully a lot are eager for new players. The consensus is that gate-camp dipshits are regarded as subhuman losers. I remember reading some Soul Takers' bio and he had a link to his blog where he basically was like "Fuck you if you want to get on me about my grammar". This lazy fuck couldn't even be arsed to type correctly for a blog. Then I clicked on the entry where he said "...so I just got back from having coronary artery bypass surgery....". Hey, fatso, maybe you wouldn't have had to have a triple bypass if you'd not sit on your fat fucking ass all day watching a gate and hoping some loser jumps through unprepared. Both in-game and out-of-game gate campers, especially in gateway systems are like fat people who can't leave the couch. Their characters have sec-ratings so low they'll immediately be fired upon if they try to go anywhere else. Fweddit is full of faggots and they will check your post count on Reddit. Dreddit - full of even more faggots because they're the most worthless alliance in-game but nobody's told them they haven't been relevant since August 2013. On the other side of the coin there's: Brave Newbies. Some people talk about them the way Goonfleet used to be talked about back in 2007. They're mostly interested in killing shit and mobbing you to death. They don't even check to see if you're an active sub before they recruit you. Pretty cool guys. Eve University. The carebear crew. Fairly powerful despite being one of the least PVP focused. Rixx Javix's "Stay Frosty" - I recommend this crew for anyone looking to ruin somebody's day and hang out. RED & BLU - Red vs. Blu concept exported to EVE Online. While they used to just be team deathmatch IN SPACE they've branched out and do weekly cruises through space looking for trouble. And recently they partnered with Goonswarm to take over a lot of Player-owned Customs Offices (planetary interaction docks, PI = Farmville in space) in high-security zones to get passive income off people using PI to make certain materials. |
