One of the big flaws of RPG maker (and most JRPGs) is that by the time you make enemies, battles, balance numbers, skills, make skill effects, have a leveling pattern, boss battles, find outside scripts to make the battles non-Dragonquest, etc. you've spent 200+ hours for something that's just not that enjoyable. That's why I'm mainly relying on the humor and puzzles to carry the game.
Is part of the pleasure of RPGs the build up of your characters? The increasing number of combat options? Finding new shit, getting access to better spells... exploration? I've struggled with every JRPG I've ever played, but I can sit for hours with CRPGs like Bard's and Wizardry. Why is that?
I know I hate Final Fantasy's thing where you have to wait in real time for a character's action meter to fill up again, but RPG Maker games seem to not have that.

That brings up a good question about RPGs in general by Ice Cream Jonsey 02/06/2014, 9:55pm PST
Maybe CRPGs let you visit a world, JRPGs take you on an adventure by stupid rookie 02/07/2014, 10:21am PST
