Mom, please get dad off the karaoke machine. It's embarassing me and it's my wedby Rafiki 03/10/2014, 8:41pm PDT
Elio; I can appreciate what you're conveying; however, I think perhaps you are living too much in your mind, and this is disallowing you to just appreciate the music for what it is; your analysis can disassociate your visceral response and enjoyment. I find myself really enjoying this music; it's very original and interesting to me (and many others). All art is derivative; it has to come from somewhere. I could care less whatever pretentions I see in an artist; if the music moves me, this is a great achievement in my mind and there is no need to judge them on any other basis.
Bill Hicks said it best: "Play from your fucking heart!". This live performance exemplifies that statement. It is amazing. It is incredible. I've been waiting for something like this to show up for years, now. This is bad-ass and real. No pretense. Just raw talent, emotion and pure love for sound, pure love for opportunity and pure appreciation of music as both an art form and a "chance to shine"; and they nailed it. Alan Watts spoke a ton about the artist and "being in the zone" and "the dance". This, my friends, is an example of the latter. This is "the dance". Life is a dance, and Samuel Herring is illustrating it.. Peak stuff, right here. Peace. Love, my people. Peace.
Beautifully stated. Sam gave it 110%, just like he does at every show. He didn't hold back just because it's the Letterman show. I think some people are taken aback because the performance is so unique, so out-of-the-box. But I agree with you; they nailed it!
There's lots of comments about the singer's performance being "unique," "out of the box," "from the heart," "pure emotion," and other phrases trying to gloss over that it's actually just "stupid."
