It has camera-work like a Scorcese film, it has voice-over narratives and cut-shots of stuff, as well as jumping around in the timetable. If they had Ray Liotta saying "As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a con artist" my head would have exploded.

Unfortunately the movie is really best when it's mimicing Scorcese. The relationships aren't really interesting and there's no real tension throughout the entire movie. The main characters aren't really in danger. There's a mild twist at the end but this movie is mostly about how silly the late 70's were. Like That 70's Show made into a feature film. Also it keeps jumping between semi-serious and comedic. There's a Louis CK cameo for no real reason other than it's Louis CK and his arguing with his subordinate in an incredibly silly way is the only reason he's here. At first I thought it was great surprise casting until he opened his fucking mouth and I realized he was just doing a Louis CK bit for a film camera.

Go see a Wolf on Wall Street instead unless you really want to see Christian Bale doing a really convincing Jersey accent and wearing a fatsuit and bald cap.
