Haha. Yeah, I'm a dick.
I do feel a little bad for the lower-level employees here. They're the ones who really got shat on, it sounds like. Still, sometimes you have to learn not to stand behind the elephant after feeding time. When your boss tells you it's time to come in on Saturday, and project has been going on for 8 years without shipping, it's time to start sending out resumes.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like a big part of the issue was the two office problem with Iceland and Georgia. You can bet that all the people with real decision-making power and real hope for advancement were in Iceland. Meanwhile, Georgia was a convenient scapegoat for things that went wrong. It's always the same with corporations... if you're not in the head office, you might as well just say "fuck it" and put in as little effort as you can, because you're not going to get anywhere.
It sounds like they couldn't make up their minds about what the game was actually supposed to be, so it just kind of shuffled its way into a decade of zombie-like life before getting killed. |
