I tried starting Might and Magic 1, but clicking reroll for my stats was just driving me up a wall. Then I remembered KOTC lets you just set all 6 stats to 18 if you want, which is essentially what you're trying to do by rerolling ANYWAY. I compensated for that little bit of cheating by imposing the limit that I will not craft any items (which is apparently game-breaking according to the forums). Note that if you aren't going to craft, specialize in long swords.
The level 1-4 hump is a difficult one to surmount, but once you get your fireball on this game gets REALLY fun! Between the myriad spells and the complex battles this game throws at you, it puts the japanese SRPGs to shame! Unlike the gold box games that inspired this, there is no lurking level cap. My dudes just get more and more godlike and although random battles get tougher, individual enemies don't scale to your level. Oh no a platoon of orcs *FIREBALL* okay, what's in the next room? The one thing I miss is the "Bleaah" skull and crossbones when enemies die from the gold box games.
Next thing you know, I'll be dusting off Titans of Steel! |
