It was okay. Not a modern classic like Pitch Black, but not an unmitigated disaster like The Chronicles of Riddick. If you want to see the same story told twice as well in half the time, watch episodes 45 & 46 ("Hereafter" pts. 1 & 2) of the Justice League cartoon of all fucking things (they were written by Dwayne McDuffie, if that's a selling point for you).
I hope the fact Riddick did a little better than break even means they're going to let David Twohy direct more mid-budget genre stuff, that haunted submarine movie of his and the other one where Charlie Sheen plays Gordon Freeman before there was a Gordon Freeman were both way more fun than they had any right to be. |
