Cons
* Atchison Topeka storyline is fucking stupid as hell, boring, with a stupid resolution.
* Fucking videogame curator in Atchison collects goddamn video games, so of course when I find a genesis, copy of Wasteland 1 for PC, all the fucking Atari ETs, virtual boy, game gear, saturn, n64 etc then OF COURSE that guy will be interested, right? Well, guess what he doesn't give a single shit. Seems like that was intended to be a quest so they cut out the only part that makes sense and left in the useless cruft.
* There's a boy drowning, better punch down the tower of appropriate height so he can climb out. Super retarded.
* Many/most of the maps are dim and ugly and navigation is a pain in the ass. I don't know whether to blame the camera coder or the map artist or both. Trying to find a spot on any map is an abortion.
* The turtle's death. The actual quest part of that is fun in a meta way because your videogame instinct tells you there's a pot of gold at the end but then it goes on for soooooooooooooo long that you begin to think it's just wandering randomly. That part is good but the "message" of "Hey videogames are a waste of time" is so fucking moronic. Assholes! You made a fucking video game that sucks, don't lecture us about it.
Pros
* Ag Center was pretty cool. Other locations were okay/cool. Looking back I think Ag Center was (sad to say) the pinnacle.
* Radio chatter was nice but not excellent. I kind of like calling in to base for levelups so that my dad I mean the commander can praise me. See also, Earthbound. |
