I don't know how close you live to Aurelius, but a cab ride is probably going to be more expensive than renting a car if you don't live within, say, 15 miles of it. And since there's nothing near Aurelius and you don't know where the airport is, I'm betting you don't.
Also, she could suck you off in the rental car.
$40 a day is high. If she has her own car in whatever state she lives in, then her car insurance will extend to the rental, and that saves like $15/day right there. I would expect a midsize (like a Grand Am) to be about $30 a day, a tiny piece of shit to be around $20. The cab ride each way is going to be at least $15 each way, plus tip. I would actually expect it to be a lot more than that (probably like $40 each way plus tip).
