| I wish I had listened. I WISH I HAD LISTENED!!!
This is the worst game I've ever played in terms of being interrupted by cutscenes. A never-ending linear gauntlet of 60 seconds of covershooting gunfights in a room then 4 minutes of cutscene. Repeated 20 times per chapter, with 10 minute cutscenes between each chapter. Then to make it even worse, for the 60 seconds you actually get to play they constantly slow you down to a walk or temporarily take away control. The office building fight and escape in chapter 6 was unbelievable. Literally segments where they hand control back to you for (I'm not exaggerating) 10 seconds of walking through an empty room and then take it away for a long cutscene. I actually died in the burning building part because the ceiling caved in on me. I was slowly stumbling to a doorway, and then the game took control away so I could lean on a door while it narrated some bullshit at me, then handed it back. So I stumbled over to a stairway, then the game took control away to spin the camera around to a fixed angle and it started narrating again, so I patiently waited for it to end just like the past 500 times in the game. Only this time I was supposed to hold the walk forward button so I could slowly walk up the stairs until I got to the top and it would transition into the next cutscene. I didn't realize that, so I stood on the stairs too long and I died when the ceiling fell on me. I actually started saying out loud, "Do I get to play now do I get to play now doIgettoplaynow doIgettoplaynow doIgettoplaynow doIgettoplaynow," angrily waiting to get control back during each cutscene. This game made me SO MAD, Caltrops. And like you said, you'd come out of cutscenes and be overwhelmed. There were times when the camera would be slowly swinging into place to hand control back to me and I'd be sitting there watching Max soak up bullets while I could do absolutely nothing. Then on top of that, every single time it came out of a cutscene it changed me to a single pistol instead of the dual pistols/dual uzis/rifle/any other fucking thing I was using, because obviously when I have 6 guys with AKs unloading on me I want the shittiest weapons possible. |
